Boating Safety and
Regulations
Few
topics in life are as difficult as the one of safety while still fewer
are as important. We have found at Lake Anna that there are wide
and diverse misunderstandings about how to approach the challenge of
advocating safety on the lake waters. Some believe that it is
best ensured through boating controls, restrictions and other
limitations; in other words, by taking the "shotgun" approach.
Others believe that you make the most difference by focusing on the
actual problem sources themselves and addressing them directly - which
I term the "rifle" approach. LABARA is NOT in favor of any
"shotgun" approach because, in the long run, it overly limits the
freedoms and privileges of responsible users of the waters. An
overwhelming amount of data has been compiled and is widely available
to guide safety conscious planners and law enforcers as to what unsafe
actions to target in order to REALLY make a positive impact on boating
safety. Our contributions to this effort begin at this page as we
provide you with useful links and other safety oriented suggestions and
guidelines in our quest to keep Lake Anna safe and open to boating
enthusiasts of all kinds.
