The Orange County HS Angler’s Sportsman’s Expo

Over the weekend of March 1st and 2nd 2008, we attended the Orange County High School Angler’s Sportsman’s Expo at the Orange County Virginia High School.  This is an annual event attended by local area fishermen and outdoor enthusiasts.  Many of them come to Lake Anna to fish and some participate in fishing tournaments held on the lake.

We met many folks there and listened to their ideas and suggestions.  We also learned some of the concerns that fishermen have pertaining to restrictions in general on Lake Anna and, for that matter, all of Virginia’s lakes and rivers.  A number of them expressed their support for our organization and we also signed up some new members.  We provided a couple of gifts that were used as door prizes that were a big hit.

It was our privilege to contribute to the event by informing those who boat at Lake Anna about safety and some of the current issues affecting the lake, such as the low water level, issues about the upcoming power plant upgrades, jet ski safety training course plans, respecting the Lake Anna environment, and upcoming LABARA events.

Many thanks to the OCHS Angler’s for allowing us to take part in their event.  And, thanks to all of you we talked with on both days.  We heard what you had to say and we appreciate you and your support.
